About the Role:

 

• We’re looking for the right leader to build a world class market intelligence function that delivers market and competitive insights, leads marketing analytics and research projects and shares critical information that influence business planning, go-to-market strategy, and drives a dynamic business.

• In this inaugural role for Verisk, the ideal candidate will need to think strategically, write effectively and display strong analytical and critical thinking skills. This individual will also have excellent business acumen and communication skills in order to be able to work with business leaders to develop and define key business questions, work with teams to set up the right data structure and collect information and design the analysis model that answers these questions.

• The individual should have significant expertise in market intelligence and have demonstrated success delivering insights for large, global organizations and be viewed as a trusted partner and advisor to C-suite executives and senior leaders.

• The Director, Market Intelligence will create and lead a small team and partner with SME’s across Verisk. The position plays a critical role in modernizing marketing for Verisk and reports to the VP, Brand. The role is based in New York (Jersey City, NJ).

 

Responsibilities:

• Build a world class function that delivers successful and measurable market intelligence strategy

• Frame and synthesize data and findings into new frameworks

• Gather and evaluate relevant market and competitor information to review market position and determine threats

• Understand key business issues across marketing to collaborate and support their top business and marketing initiatives

• Manage and incorporate second- and third-party data sources into overall analytics strategy and business recommendations

• SME across Verisk’s industries, businesses, product lines and value propositions

• Working with a cross-functional cohort, shape an insight-led, path to purchase / customer experience model for different businesses including barriers and drivers of engagement

• Develop and execute market (MI), competitive (CI) and customer intelligence reports, white papers, modeling analysis that drive insights for business decisions. Examples include:

• Quarterly competitor analysis (post earnings)

• Market Segmentation

• Customer Firmographics

• Offer external view and market insights to assist strategic planning and M&A activity

• Determine new opportunities and trends

• Leverage data to drive decision-making and ROI

• Prepare budget, research plan and allocate resources

• Design market research proposals and oversee research projects

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in business, marketing or related field

• Market Intelligence expert (13+ years)

• Expert-level knowledge of best practices related to market intelligence, competitor intelligence and customer information

• Keen understanding of with key research vendors and their research reports focusing across the intersection of data and risk

• Broad and deep research experience across qualitative, quantitative and agile research methodologies

• Excellent presentation, written and verbal skills, especially adept at translating complex data source into business insights and interacting with senior executives of the company

• Experience with market research studies from design through execution and reporting

• Data-driven mindset

• Excellent data-first skills across tracking, measurement and analytics to deliver ROI, insights and strategic recommendations

• Expert in technical research and analytics techniques, tools and platforms

• Skilled in market intelligence and customer intelligence monitoring and tracking tools

• Experience building and monitoring dashboards that demonstrate ROI and business impact

• Leader of high-performance teams

• Expert at leading centralized and decentralized teams, developing talent and mentoring direct reports

• Able to collaborate, motivate and inspire other functions, with a consistent approach that reflects the Verisk brand
